Presentation is Everything

Although I feel I am a very detailed person, there are a few things I do not feel detail is important. This Christmas I am working on changing my views on gift wrap, lingerie, and cakes. These are the three areas I struggle with getting fancy and creative. My philosophy has always been it is going to be ripped apart, taken off, and eaten; so why go the extra mile. I was at Hobby Lobby today and found some really pretty and coordinating wrapping paper and it got me thinking, maybe presentation is everything. My goal this season and into the coming year will be to create beautiful packages to give to those I love, put on lingerie for my husband to enjoy, and decorate gorgeous cakes that everyone will want to devour. If you are like me, I offer this challenge to you as well.

Amy, Welcome to our world! I hope we can keep in touch much better this way.

As far as presentation...Does this mean I get to go shopping?

Cakes? I buy them beautiful. I made Julia's b-day cake for her first birthday. It was beautiful. Then I just kept getting pregnant...and sick so now I have to buy cakes. The kids love it though. They would rather pick one out than make one. What does this say about their homemaking skills?

Presents. Okay, I definitely need encouragement on this one. Really. I have nothing to say. I suppose one of my goals for the new year would be to be more thoughtful, actually buy or make special things for the ones I love and present them beautifully. Just typing that stresses me out! This is a someday goal that I will work a little on each year. Okay my breathing is returning to normal now.

I love you!!

So glad you are blogging!! I am proud of you for giving it a try.

As far as presentation - I am with ya on the last two. But I LOVE to wrap gifts. I get it from my mom. I think selecting my paper and ribbon may be one of my favorite parts of the gift giving expereince.

You wouldn't know b/c your gifts are usually GC - but move back to Texas and I'll wrap you one. ;O)

I'm with Lisa...I purchase beautiful cakes! They really do make such a difference, but I just have to surrender that over to others that are more talented than I! Also it frees me up to spend more time on favors and decor! I love to gift wrap, but often end up using a bag and tissue...I agree that wrapping with a fun bow is much more special! As far as lingerie goes, I hate to spend the money on something I will only wear for about 2 seconds. I would rather use that $40 on a good pair of pants or some fun shoes! However, one time I bought some shoes and came out only wearing those (they were nikes) but he seemed to like it. I guess the trick is getting creative with what you want to label as "lingerie." Thanks for the blog...I too am more challenged to present things in more creative ways!

I hope you will update your blog often with pictures of your kiddos. I loved your newsletter. I am going to add your link to my blog so I can check back on you and your family.

I am with you on the whole why put forth the effort when it gets ripped open, off, or eaten up (in that order). But it does look better for things to be more dressed up. I must confess my presents were lacking in that department this year. I didn't even use bows. Our tree is so low that the gifts have to be stacked and I convinced my self the bows would get smooshed.

Happy Blogging!
